Golf as Your Sports – Perfect Recreational Activity for All Ages

Golf as your sports, what it is and what it can do for you? Golf is a competitive sport and generally regarded as a good recreational activity.

Golf has been defined as a precision club-and-ball sport. It is usually played in courses each features a unique design. Different levels of grass are varied in order to increase difficulty, giving the golfer an ample to chance to think of strategy to be able to achieve its goals or holes.

The target is to hit a small hard ball with specially made clubs, using a few strokes as possible, known as stroke play. It is categorize as an outdoor course with 9 to 18 successive holes. Each cup or hole has its par or score, usually from par 3 to par 5. Golfers can walk or drive in motorized carts over the course or field.

Golf can be played singly or in groups and sometimes they are accompanied by caddies. Caddies are the ones who carry and manage the golfers’ equipment and by the rule are allowed to give advice on the game. By default of course they are only allowed to give advice to whom they are working and not to the competitor.

Golf is very good sport for somebody who wants to try an aerobic activity that does not require a superb fitness in order to play. However you need to be physically fit to reduce the risk of injury and enhance your performance and enjoyment of the game.
The golfers are advice to do some aerobic exercise before indulging in the sport, like jogging. They need to have enough endurance to walk 18 holes on a hot day. Sometimes the sport can take more than 6 hours and may require the golfer to walk in 10 miles or so.

The sport has four phases called the golf swing. Each of this phases namely – backswing or take away, downswing or acceleration, impact, and follow through – can stress specific areas of the body. The wrists, lower back and outside elbow usually gets the brunt of the activity.

Exercise for the upper body, back and legs can be done through stretching to improve flexibility and reduce injuries caused by rotational movements. To strengthen the forearm and wrist, the golfer needs to do a little weight training to enable the wrist to cope with the impact. And since the golf swing tends to develop only one side or more of the other side, the golfer must involve its training some flexibility and strength.

Compared to other sports, Golf can be played by a wide range of people, differing in age and ability. The golfers can play this sport throughout their lifetime. Most of the older golfers often say that the game helps them physically mentally fit. Golf has been proven to strengthen the back and shoulders which help to maintain spine rotation and stability, necessary for a healthier spine for older people and young alike.

Golf being an outdoor course gives you the chance to stay outside and be one with nature. Golfers often say that golf motivates them to be under the sun often and breathe fresh air.
